SiemensInnerLink created new procedures that helped Siemens become a benchmark company in the area of Human Resources.
Situation: When the German industrial giant Siemens acquired several divisions of the former Westinghouse Electric Corporation, a new North American business unit was created. Local HR and Payroll Departments had to replace the centralized services previously provided by Westinghouse corporate offices. The new company required new policies, service providers, and software for HR and Payroll services.
Solution: Through interviews and observations, InnerLink helped the staff of each department identify their essential tasks. InnerLink then worked with these departments to document the procedures that supported those tasks. Finally, InnerLink worked with the IT department to install the documentation on the corporate intranet, eliminating the need for paper manuals.
Benefit: Two essential departments standardized their functions, documented their best practices, trained new staff, and served their fellow employees efficiently. Siemens' employees could quickly access current online versions of policies and procedures.
